Since 1921, J.M. Thompson Company has been a family owned and operated General Contracting firm. Today the third generation of Thompson family members is working and leading the company. John Thompson, President
John Thompson has been working with J.M. Thompson Company for 33 years. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina.

As President, Mr. Thompson is responsible for overseeing the overall work and profitability of J.M. Thompson Company. He will serve as project executive, ensuring that the project team maintains the quality control, schedule and budget for the project. He will also serve as a communications resource for all team members (owner/construction manager/architect/engineer, as well as the project manager/superintendent), proactively assisting with resolution of issues as needed. He is responsible for monitoring and finalizing corporate matters, including pre-construction, construction, and financial issues.

Richard A. Thompson, Executive Vice President
Richard (Dickie) Thompson has been working with J.M. Thompson Company for 30 years. He is a graduate from North Carolina State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. During his time with JMT, Dickie has served as project executive/project manager on numerous projects throughout the state of North Carolina.

As Executive Vice President and Project Manager/Executive, Mr. Thompson serves as the senior liaison between the field and the office. His experience in construction allows him the ability to visit projects and immediately check on quality of work, schedule, efficiency of manpower and equipment, and safety. He has the authority to commit the company’s resources, as required, to meet any obligations or to react to unexpected conditions. He will coordinate all work activities on a daily basis, ensuring quality control, schedule and budgetary control.

H. Martin Thompson, Executive Vice President
Martin (Marty) Thompson has been working with J.M. Thompson Company for 27 years. He is a Raleigh, NC native and attended Ravenscroft School and Wake Technical Community College. Mr. Thompson also serves as Safety Officer for J.M. Thompson Company.
